The Frick Collection.Gainsborough presents the sitter half-length, full face, in oval, dressed in a low neck yellow gown, trimmed in white chiffon. Mrs. Hatchett was seventeen when painted. Gainsborough spent many evenings in her father’s house, and was won by the young lady’s extraordinary musical genius. She was a pupil of Clementi, who pronounced her the best non-professional performer in England. -- source link
