Photos taken at Chicago protest by Jonathan Hoenig (@JonathanHoenig) not all pro-palestine protestors are about antisemitism, but a lot are, and it really sucks. and the thing that amazes me about antisemitic pro-palestine protests is that even with all the antisemitism happening in europe and elsewhere, people are still comparing jews to hitler and nazis. when diaspora jews are getting attacked for “payback” for the gaza attacks, how can you stand with antisemitic signs with a smile on your face? do people not care about our safety? This is why I’m done with detached gentiles. It’s really mind-boggling, because it is so EASY to advocate for justice in Palestine without throwing Jews under the bus, but they choose to do it anyway. Obviously, this isn’t true of all Palestine activists, but even just a portion completely alienates pro-Palestine Jews, because this type of rhetoric shows that we aren’t safe in your circles. It shows that we aren’t safe at all. Honestly this is a big part of why I could NEVER stand with these people. The ignorance really hurts my brain. -- source link
