autumnyte: high0castle: It’s really beyond gross how many people brag about punching her out or laugh at her for it. And it’s worse that BioWare made a running gag of the thing. She isn’t an armed combatant. She isn’t a soldier. She isn’t fighting against Shep and she doesn’t get in the way of saving the galaxy. Decking her is just assault, and it’s particular disconcerting when dude!Shep does it because then it’s just a big strong man slapping a woman around for daring to question him. This. And the fact that she happens to be a WoC adds an extra layer of ickiness to the whole thing. Are you people serious? We are talking about renegade Shepard, right? …Right? So the fact that Renegade dudeShep blatantly shoots a bunch of people right in the face, kicks and punches a bunch of others (men included), does not bother anyone, but this one instance does? Renegade Shepard is an asshole. He is a big strong man, slapping weaker people around. In ME3, he becomes downright psychotic, executing his former allies without remorse or pity and committing genocide. He shoots Legion several times, while he is unarmed and on his knees. Is the fact that he’s a misogynistic ass really that surprising to anyone? -- source link
