Just to reassure you as well, if you’re someone who has recently started weight training, you may find with squats and deadlifts that you feel light-headed after performing the exercise. This is just because you’re having to hold your breath and tighten your core before each repetition, so essentially you’re not breathing for 2-3 seconds whilst generating power to lift the weight properly. Therefore you’re essentially starving your brain of oxygen for a few seconds which is why you may need to take a couple of breaths between each rep in order to regain some oxygen back because you’ll be in an oxygen debt after holding your breath and expending lots of energy with each repetition.
