They Made Me a FugitiveDirected by Alberto CavalcantiScreenplay by Noel Langley (based on a novel by Jackson Budd)UK, 1947 Watched on 17th December 2013Second viewing This isn’t a particularly renowned film, but almost everything in it works for me. It’s a British noir thriller starring Trevor Howard as an escaped convict trying to find the gang leader who framed him for killing a copper. My only complaint is the performance by Sally Gray, whose acting disorientingly alternates between deadpan and histrionic.
