niggasandcomputers: earwormwax: The Black People Never Mentioned in Black History During Black History Month Who: Thomas L. Jennings From: New York City, NY (1791–1856) Contribution: As a freed man, Thomas owned and operated a dry cleaning business in his native New York City. He was so gangsta at his skill, that on March 2, 1821, he became the first black man to be granted a patent for his dry cleaning process. While grindin’ to the maximum, he remained loyal, and spent his earning on liberating his family out of slavery and supporting the abolitionist cause. He also became the assistant secretary to the First Annual Convention of the People of Color in Philly in 1831. Talk about rise and grind. No excuse people. Black History Month -- source link
