houseplantjournal: Hello and thank you for the quick response! Here is a photo of my philodendron silver. I think I may have been nitpicking too much because I think overall the plant doesn’t look too bad, just a few leaves that are curling. What do you think? Should I remove the curling leaves? Response: Your philodendron silver looks quite healthy :) I would try to give your soil a thorough soaking then draining and aerating to see if it’s your soil that isn’t hold water. I would also check under the leaves for any pests - that brown spot on the top could indicate some bugs feasting below. Overall, it looks like a beautiful philodendron silver! Here’s a step by step: Soaking: - put the plant into a tub or something that will hold water- pour water onto the soil and keep pouring until the water has drained out the bottom AND the water + soil has reached the brim of the pot and doesn’t sink down (due to draining out)- let the plant sit like this for 10-15 minutes Draining:- carefully remove the plant from the tub and place it in a sink to let the water drain out of the drainage hole- leave it there to drain for 10-15 minutes- return it to its original location Aerating:- take a chopstick (or other blunt but somewhat pointy object) and gently poke 5-6 holes into the soil in various places- you can poke all the way down to the bottom of the pot but don’t force your way through if you hit something rigid (it could be a mass of roots) Hope this helps!
