Is Facebook looking to pick up the all you can eat music service Spotify? Signs seem to be pointing towards a resounding, maybe. With MySpace buying Facebook’s old love, iLike, the pressure is now on to fill this newly created void. The rumor gets particularly interesting when you add that Mark Zuckerberg status claimed that “Spotify is so good.” Personally this seems like a perfect match. Facebook needs to solidify their music presence since that is the last stronghold that MySpace really holds. And Spotify needs two things to really increase its market penetration. First gain consumer mindshare, especially in the US where it has yet to be officially released. The other is to focus their social networking aspects. A major feature that Spotify has over competitors like iTunes is that playlists can easily be shared or co-authored. However, they have been relying on third-party sites to organize the playlists. Facebook would fix both of these problems overnight. The only hitch between these two seems to be their difference in delivery. Facebook loves the browser, whereas Spotify favors to the dedicated app. Details, details. [TechCrunch] -- source link
