J. Helfft, The Music Room of Fanny Hensel, 1849. Brush and watercolor, graphite on paper. Fanny Hensel was pianist, composer and elder sister of the more renowned composer, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. Well before her marriage and for many years afterward, Fanny organized and programmed small musical gatherings which took place in this room in her Berlin apartment. The room is dominated by a grand piano. A desk and sewing table are placed to catch the sunlight. Via Cooper Hewitt -- source link
