Black Botanicals: The Root of Caribbean Medicine’ will be at the RCA’s Hockney Gallery from 16th-20th May.I have had such a blast contributing to some of the artwork featured in this brilliantly researched exhibition, with comics detailing a medical history of the Caribbean in the 18th-19th century. Here is an extract from one of the pages. It was a challenge to try and visualise these diseases, as well as the voyeuristic and exploitative ways in which European doctors often treated their patients, ignoring their humanity in the process. -- source link
