WEEK 2Last week was a busy and exciting week for our team! Not only were we preparing our presentation for the Halloween Review, but we were also creating our team costume — the Huburger!During the week, we worked towards analyzing and making sense of all the documentation we had done up to that point. We created diagrams, floor plans, and sections for the entire building to better understand how the courtyard and existing building can connect with each other. Our first step in organizing the courtyard was determining the underlying geometries of layouts that were done during one of our workshops. We spent one afternoon flipping through multiple landscape architecture books researching landscape case studies for the courtyard, focusing on lighting, space division, and surface materials. To better understand the size of our courtyard, we inserted two Rural Studio projects, the Newbern Library courtyard and the under-construction Faunsdale Community Center courtyard, into the Hub courtyard plan.With some helpful feedback and multiple perspectives on how to approach an existing building, the Huburger jumped straight off the grill to win second place in the costume contest! -- source link
