WEEK 20Our three week series of reviews from our guest architects is completed. We give huge thanks to Peter Gluck, Dan Wheeler, and Pete Landon for taking the time to come down South and share their architectural wisdom! Pete Landon from Landon Bone Baker Architects in Chicago guided us with his helpful review of the current design this past Friday. Experienced in non-profit work, he brought a new perspective on how the Horseshoe Farm participants could interact with the screen, trees, and ground within the space. How will the leaves of the vines feel? How do they smell? Will they be able to use the vegetation for other purposes? All of these questions we need to keep in mind when moving forward.Pete Landon wasn’t the only meeting we had this past week. We met with the local attorney, Nicholas Cobbs, and our client, Dr. John Dorsey. Mr. Cobbs informed us of the history of our site and referenced a booklet of Sanborn maps dating back to 1925. In our meeting with Dr. John Dorsey, he showed us some images of courtyards he saw as being beautiful. He focused mainly on materiality, seating, and ambiance in these images. These past three meetings have answered questions we’ve been having for a while and have motivated us to make some major decisions within the design. We hope to move closer each day towards a design that is inviting, safe, and flexible. -- source link
