This young bird is, in fact, a nestling nuthatch, and it was brought into the centre after falling out of a tree. Unfortunately not escaping the fall unscathed, a veterinary examination found a small scratch to the left ventral neck and bruising to the rest of the body. After being given sub-cutaneous fluids, it was moved into an incubator and sent away with one of our vet team to receive the care it needs.
