I don’t know what to say other than GO READ MOON KNIGHT: BLACK, WHITE AND BLOOD #2!!The way Stephen is worried about Marc and tries his best in order to stop him. And most of all, it’s SINCERE because he says “My suffering reduced the suffering of the world”, and it’s not small talk because that’s precisely how Stephen feels like. I swear to Vishanti and Khonshu, they have so many similitaries when it comes to guilt, intrusive thoughts and pain, I just– I’m really struggling to find the proper words to express how much I absolutely adored this story (and the next one too, ofc!)The narrative is just so so so sad and it reflects both their loneliness and pain. They’re not able to make one small concession because they were not taught to. Marc won’t give up even though he’s aware of the risks (mostly because he too secretly has a death wish), whereas Stephen can’t decline Marc’s request due to the possibility of getting rid of his ghosts, mostly because Stephen struggles with his daily. They acknowledge each other’s pain because they’re the same, and yet they also know that they’d try anything to send it away.Gods… This story was just… WOAH, SO MUCH ANGSTPS: I’m not suuuure when this story takes place, I thought of the start of Lemire’s run, but my beloved fren suggested it could be after Age of Khonshu, for all the trauma and terrible things Khonshu put Marc through. Just a thought, though.PS²: MARVEL, GIVE ME THEIR RECONCILIATION, I’M NO LONGER ASKING!also suddenly I have this urge to write an even sadder narrative for this story in the shape of a ficlet, byeAnyway… This book has been a love letter to Marc Spector and I’m having such a great (and sad) time as a fan. Very glad Stephen was part of it, considering they’re both two of my favorite characters. -- source link
