Made some rope dart streamers just for looks! Got excited about the aesthetic possibilities of making some dramatic ocean-themed performance streamers for Cindy and Liam, and decided I might as well make a smoky, fire-themed one for myself while I was fabric binging. They’re just long thin scraps of complementary satin, taffeta, and sparkly gauze (Fabric Outlet is my sin and salvation) jankily sewn together down the center and knotted around a ring so they can be quickly swapped out on a quicklink. My dart style is entirely predicated on transition speed and maneuverability gained from having it inertially behave as much like a point mass as possible, and adding a streamer slows you down with crazy amounts of air resistance, so I’ll never use mine for practice, just for the occasional novelty fun factor of having a floaty fire ghost rippling around me. Nevertheless they do look very cool in motion; someone at the park likened the movement to waterbending. -- source link
