She’s always a good girl, but the longer I’ve stayed with her, the more I’ve come to love those little moments when her programming slips just a little bit. It doesn’t happen very often. Not every day or even every week, but every so often, her brow crinkles just a bit, and she looks like she’s trying to remember something. Sometimes she’s staring at something particular, or just out a window. Her mouth opens just a bit. Her eyes seem to focus for just a moment. Invariably, the moment passes and she starts playing with hair and goes back to giggling or staring at me devotedly. I’m too good at what I do for her to break those cracks.
