Another website I absolutely love is smittenkitchen.com, although I must admit that many of the recipes on there are rather intimidating to me. As I’ve said, I’m NOT a good cook, and some of these recipes look a bit beyond my current abilities. But I’ve definitely found some that I am perfectly capable of making, and they are GREAT! I visited my family in the states for a while last month, and took advantage of my parents’ awesome kitchen (and access to some ingredients that are harder to find in Japan) to try out a bunch of recipes. Here’s one of the dinners I made there, with what happened to be the top two recipes on smittenkitchen at the time. The main dish, on the right, is cauliflower fritters with yogurt. The recipe is here: http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2012/12/cauliflower-feta-fritters-with-pomegranate/#more-9418 It was amazing! I would never have thought of putting cumin in yogurt, for example, but it tasted fantastic. And it really wasn’t difficult at all. The salad, on the side, was this one: http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2012/11/spinach-salad-with-warm-bacon-vinaigrette/ It was also super easy (mostly just chopping and throwing stuff together), and very very tasty. I imagine you could throw just about any vegetables you liked into it. The important part for the flavor was the delicious bacon vinaigrette. This dinner was a big hit with my family! -- source link
