Glowing eyes follow you through the forest, a high pitch scream rings out into the night, and even as you run to your car you feel the breeze of large wings flying just above your headThe Mothman is a famed cryptid from Point Pleasant, West Virginia that was reportedly first seen in 1966. I was so scared of the idea of this creature as a kid when the History Channel would occasionally air a “documentary” on them on Fridays (yes the History channel used to limit supernatural content to mostly just Friday nights). None of the other kids I knew had ever heard of it. I would have never thought he would become so famous and well loved by the time I was an adult! They are a fantastic addition to American folklore and most likely my personal favorite cryptidI used the main creatures associated with or thought to be reasons behind the Mothman sightings as inspiration for this version, which builds off of last year’s.
