I dunno if the “1 in 3 women have been beaten” stat is substantiated, I think it’s more like “1 in 3 women has been a victim of domestic abuse” (not necessarily physical). I think problems like these are severe enough that we can be honest about the facts: 1 in 3, 1 in 7, 1 in 100, it doesn’t matter. Sexism manifests itself in advertising, men’s attitudes to women in general, issues around body image, pay, chances in life, and many other facets. Fuck the patriarchy etc. N.B. I hope that this doesn’t come across as victim blaming or privileged. I can just see someone debunking these exact stats as a way of ignoring the problem, so it’s always important we’re accurate with things like this imo. -- source link
