This beautiful New Kingdom scarab is made of beige steatite with a blue-green glaze. Symmetric images of Maat feathers and cobras flank a cartouche bearing the throne name of Thutmose IV (Menkheperure). The scarab secures the king’s royal authority and invokes Amun’s support. It was likely meant to afford its owner divine protection and kingly patronage. Source: http://art.thewalters.org -- source link
