Day 2 of #MarchMeetTheMaker ~ How I started. After spending a few years working/travelling/ studying
Day 2 of #MarchMeetTheMaker ~ How I started. After spending a few years working/travelling/ studying in New Zealand, France, Finland and Scotland I decided to use the money I had saved for a house deposit to buy an enormous loom, because that’s a normal thing to do in your 20’s, right?!? I started Arra Textiles in early 2016, working from my parents garden room and the kitchen table. The business was officially launched in the summer @newdesigners One Year On and things seemed to have moved on pretty quickly from there! This is the first proper piece I made using my distinctive Wave pattern style. It was woven using hand-dyed cashmere/lambswool warp (dyed on the kitchen floor!) with a super fine white cashmere weft. It‘s one of the pieces I’ve kept, it’s good to be able to look back at it now and then to see how far my weaving has come! I’ll be doing a bit more hand dying for my Kickstarter warp soon, hopefully not on the floor this time though! #sustainablefashion #contemporarycraft #madeinscotland https://www.instagram.com/p/Bug7wA6gvm4/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1n9lsnnqf2ybh -- source link
