Shahrokh the Peri King of Iram. He is OC in my original universe and story Pairidaeza. Peri in Persian mythology are beautiful spirits of nature, ancients considered them enchanting and magical beings. In my universe peri of Iram are beautiful androgynous male creatures with wings, they live in the different ‘dimension’ of World, called Iram – the celestial abode hidden from the eyes of humans. In this portrait I used jewelry of Chinese Buddhist depictions of celestial beings such as gandharvas and apsaras, because I took into consideration the influence of Buddhism in Afghanistan – where Gandhara (the ancient center of Buddhism) was located, and according to Avesta (oldest Iranian religious book), the history of ‘World creation’ there started with opposition of of Good and Evil: whatever good Ahura-Mazda (God) created, Angra-Mainyu (Ahriman - Devil) created the bad in turn… thus, when the valley of Vaekereta (that has usually been identified with the province of Kabul) was created by Ahura-Mazda, then the ‘pairikas’ were created by Angra-Mainyu, these creatures that has been reviewed as evil entities, were perhaps, identified with Vedic (Hindu) deities, and also bodhisattvas - in Buddhism the deities of compassion, yet, in Zoroastrian religion they became dangerous spirits and idols (parasteh - in persian means ‘idolatry’).In my universe peris were created by Ahriman - the Dark Lord, but then were granted salvation by Ahura - the Lord of Light, and they became beautiful winged creatures, just as they are praised in Islamic Persian and Turkic poetry. -- source link
