Impressive Giant Pacific Octopus, carved from a fallen RedwoodWoodcarver Jeffery Michael Samudosky has magical hands that he uses to carve exquisite sculptures from mere blocks of wood. The owner of the company named after himself, JMS Wood Sculpture, this Washington based artist has been drawn towards photography and art since his high school days. But his journey as a wood sculptor commenced when he had noticed some carvings along the side of the road in Vermont. For his latest creation, Jeffrey has created a Giant Pacific Octopus from a fallen Redwood tree that has been given to him by Redwood Burl. The cephalopod’s tentacles curve and twist their way across the piece. Samudosky, in fact, has used the natural shape of the wood in a way so that it seems that the monstrous sea creature is climbing up the tree, rather than being made from it, a clever optical illusion. Its vividly emulated tentacles and rich colors can give you a scare when you it here!h/t:colossal -- source link
