rosscountyhistoricalsociety: Petrea McClintock was the woman who gave the Ross County Historical Society a home. Petrea was the daughter of William Trimble McClintick (note the difference in spelling) and his wife, Elizabeth Mary Atwood McClintick. William and Elizabeth purchased a house in 1859 at 45 W. 5th Street, Chillicothe, Ohio. The house had been built in 1838 and was a Federal style house that the MicClinticks rennovated into a much larger Victorian style home, with dedicated rooms, and a separate staircase, for William’s law office. Petrea grew up in this house. She never married. When she died in the 1930s, Petrea donated the house to the Historical Society in memory of her parents. Before Petrea’s donation, the Historical Society had occasional exhibits at fairs and centennial events, but had no permanent collection. After the acquisition of the McClintock house, the Society finally had a museum. -- source link
