cosplaying-on-a-budget: Starting the new year off with a bang. Got up at 5 am to make a 4 hour drive to Duluth GA to hit up the best fabric store in a several hundred miles radius, Fine Fabrics. The prices and the selection of materials make the trip worth it for me as long as I plan ahead and have a detailed list and as close as I can get to accurate estimates of yardage ( I can’t really pop back in to pick up a few extra yards if I underestimate). Seriously, they have a huge selection of silks and they are all $10 a yard, they have silk salvage $3 a yard in their remnant bin. The satins are $3-5 a yard. I got some fantastic knits for $6 and a 9 square foot piece of leather for $35. Some of these prices are cheap and some are average but I get the opportunity of a massive selection (compared to fabric chains like Joann) and the opportunity to feel and see them in person ( I personally don’t like to buy fabric online). OMG, their spandex collection is amazing! Here’s some fun shots from around the store. -fans self vigorously, adds to bucket list of fabric stores- -- source link
