thetitancurse: “ ” - Whenever I stop posting, I’m not really gone, I’m just taking my time to re-inspire!My art flow works in cycles, I call it my “breathing period”. Just like respiration, I first need to ‘inspire’: take my time to rest and get inspired and have ideas for my next pieces. During this time I do calligraphy, look up references, play piano, do embroidery, exercise my body, watch videos, movies, tv series… I live my life, get my lungs filled with air. Get my brain filled with ideas. And then when I’m full of air, of inspiration, I then ‘expire’: that’s when I make a lot of art. Four, five pieces on a row. And when I have no air left, then it begins again….A cycle.Every artist has their own unique cycle. For some, it’s longer than for others. For some, it takes just a week, maybe a couple of days. For others, a whole year, or maybe more than one. My cycles tend to last one or two months. I think it’s very important for each artist to be aware of their cycle and embrace it - your inspiration time is necessary for the process to work. You can’t 'expire’ with empty lungs.Don’t beat yourself up if you cant “keep up” with other people’s cycles - you have your own. Respect it, get to know it, embrace it. Your life as an artist will be much more fulfilling when you do. -- source link
