tiafoe: catstral: tiafoe: PREVIOUS | FIRST | NEXT Have I mentioned I love having the manpower that ensures us (at least) two pages per week again? We now have this page finished, while 23 will be finished by Thursday! So even if we don’t see 24/25 this week, you’ll definitely be seeing them next week at the latest. Oh, and one thing I didn’t mention when I uploaded the previous page was that I recently finished the script for Chapter 7 and I already wrote down a basic outline for Chapter 8, which I will get back to writing as soon as I finish writing stuff for Moonlit Brew (so, by the time October starts at the latest)! Marco’s sure suffering from a severe case of “sass overload”, isn’t he? Art © The Blood Moon Commission Star Vs The Forces of Evil © @daronnefcy & Disney i seem to have noticed a few things that spoil my enjoyment of the comic, and i would like to share my critiques, if that’s alright. As far as i know, this comic is supposed to be show style. even if that wasn’t the case. the art is really inconsistent and wierd-looking. Marco is missing every other tooth, Tom’s nose here is shaped more like a hooked nose, than his pointed nose in canon. Marco’s body is too small in three frames, then in the last frame it suddenly becomes a better size.a little too distracting for me to continue reading if it continues.and the writing doesn’t seem in character, it’s really distracting when, of the pages i’ve read, tom doesn’t seem the same as he does in the show itself. like, too serious and seems kinda mean on this page in specific. i feel as though better dialogue would be, tom: “but seriously, a room like this wouldn’t work above ground” / Marco: “oh, Why?” / Tom: “it just looks much cooler underground.” or something like that. i’ve read the other pages, but the problems with writing only seem to be incredibly distracting on this page and a few other pages. i just thought i’d bring my problems with the comic to attention. I can’t say a lot about the art (after all, I’m only the writer/creator of TIAFOE), other than we have multiple people working on this comic at the same time; We’ve tried working on this comic with less people, but stuff kept exploding in our faces because some artists were suddenly too busy, or they had serious IRL stuff they needed to sort out, so we had to find people who were as close to the show’s art style as possible. With that being said, we are trying, and will try, to have everyone’s art style be as consistent to the show’s as possible. In fact, @valedary9 is going to start helping out and revise future pages of the comic, so we will be closer to the style of the show, shortly! As for the criticism of my writing, I respectfully disagree with Tom’s personality being “out of character”. For starters, the main character of this comic is, in SVTFOE, a recurring character who has appeared in only 3 episodes (Blood Moon Ball, Mr. Candle Cares, and Friendenemies), and one other episode where he has a brief cameo with a few lines of dialogue (Naysaya). Without going into spoiler territory, I will tell you there’s a reason Tom is acting a bit on the cocky side to Marco, which will be explained later on in the chapter. Also, keep in mind that this is an AU/”What if?” comic. While our main goal is to make this as true to the show as possible, there’s going to be bits here and there where we’ll take a few minor liberties because of the fact we don’t know a whole lot about Tom/The Underworld outside of what was shown to us by Daron and her crew. As I’ve mentioned earlier, Stan and Lucy were created long before Dave and Wraithmeilor were unveiled to the public, so no one (besides the SVTFOE crew) had any idea what Tom’s parents actually looked like. Rest assured, we will not have the non-original characters do anything that would be considered “off-character”; Tom’s not going to kill people out of blind rage, nor is Marco going to rip hearts out Johnny Cage-style (though he did punch through Toffee that one time, but that’s not the point)! I’m back xD -- source link
