toadschooled:Ribeiroia is a genus of freshwater trematode parasites. They have a complicated lifespan wherein frogs often serve as second intermediate hosts. Tadpoles infected with Ribeiroia often grow deformed limbs upon morphing into frogs. They may have extra legs, extra toes, or fail to develop any limbs at all. Evidence suggests that Ribeiroia infections have been on the rise, and may pose a threat to amphibian conservation efforts.
