frozenempire: Ball fan of feathers was made for Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna (1875-1960), daughter of Alexander III, in the Faberge workshop. Gold disc, which hold feathers, covered with transparent pink enamel, applied with the technique of guilloche; handle made of rock crystal. Xenia Alexandrovna used this fan for the 1903 Bal des Costumes Russes in the Winter Palace, where she was dressed as a boyarina. The jewellery that she wore was given to her by her paretns at her wedding. -- source link
