It’s 2017 National Teacher Appreciation Week. Today, there are more than 3 million teachers educating America’s children. To commemorate the relationship between teachers and students, we wanted to share this poem by Langston Hughes, taking from Special Collections’ copy of “Theme for English B”, found in The Collected Poems of Langston Hughes, presents a teacher-student relationship that is complicated and not always happy.
