You sighed and leaned against the wall.“He’s a vampire now. It’s not like he can…” You started to defend. Max sighed, having enough of everyone debating if they should help Billy or not.“I think Billy is a good guy but at the end of the day, they’re still a vampire.” Will said quietly. He cleared his throat and added. “As good a guy as a bully can be. It isn’t his fault a vampire got him. It could have been one of us.”“I know we all have different feelings about him but we should maybe… you know we could save him before he eats someone. What was the point of figuring out how to catch him?” Max asked loudly. Her tone made everyone go quiet and stop bickering.“You’re right.” You said finally. Everyone else agreed.Your house was the furthest out of town out of the groups. Seeing as your family had gone away for the weekend and you had asked to stay behind, no one would drop by. The plan was to lure Billy there, hit him with the weird goopy injection that El and Jim had seen used on another vampire and then get him, unconscious into your basement den where Billy would be cured by the second injection that Joyce and i’m were trying to get while all of you gathered to decide if going ahead with the plan was a good idea.“What if he goes crazy?” Mike asked.“Super crazy…” Dustin muttered.“I’m sure I can handle him.” El said as she walked across the room to Max, patted her on the shoulder and led the way out of the house.“Plans on then.” You muttered and followed them. Steve sighed and went with the boys through the back way of your house. El and Max went ahead, your front key clutched in Max’s hand. You dawdled behind. It took twenty minutes to walk from Steve’s house to yours. Which meant it was plenty of time for a rampaging vampire to notice you and follow you back home. After fifteen you felt the prickle of being watched. Your skin tingled and blood rushed in your ears. While your body told you to hurry away and reach your house, you steeled your nerves and made sure to keep your cool.“(Y/N).” You heard Billy call. You turned. He was maybe ten steps away. You haven’t heard him walking behind you. Max and El were already inside, unable to hear anyone else outside you assumed the group had gotten into their position.“Billy! Where have you been. Everyone was so worried.” You said sweetly. The smile on your face pulled awkwardly at the corners of your lips. The pounding of your heart would give you away if you couldn’t steady your nerves and convince him that everything was fine. While you told yourself, it’s just the same old Billy, your body knew the presence of a predator.“You were worried about me?” He asked. He smiled at the thought and took another silent step closer.“Yeah. Why won’t you come inside? We can call… someone, tell them that I found you.” You tried to look innocently excited that he had been found. Jim arrested a man for attacking people, found he was from the lab in town, then had to deal with vampires popping up everywhere. At the very least Jim, Max and Joyce had been worried that Billy had gone missing for two weeks. Jim was worried he’d been eaten and there was no chance to save him. He watched you carefully as you held out a hand as if to take his and lead him inside. His large hand swallowed yours as his fingers closed around your own hand. His hand wasn’t cold. You’d expected it to be. But it wasn’t warm either. Rather it was the same temperature as the air around you. He followed you inside, quietly and with a confused sort of dazed look about him, like a lost child being returned to a frantic mother. When Steve slammed the door behind you both, he jumped. Billy jumping caused Mike, Dustin and Lucas to step back. Will watched him wearily with a golf club as a weapon clutched in his hand.“What’s going on?” Billy asked, snatching his hand back. He turned, his face twisted, eyes glowing and fangs bared. You stumbled backwards and he followed, drawing forwards. Steve hurried to tackle him and they grapp;ed on the floor. The phone rang as the two of you tried to grab hold of Billy so Max could give him the fist injection. Will hurried to answer it.“They got it! They got it and it worked on the man in the hospital. They said to keep Billy here and that they’ll be here soon!” He called out from the hallway. Containing Billy was easier said than done. He was already fairly strong but now he had vampiric strength and seemed able to detect when one of you planned to strike. Steve grabbed at Billy’s legs, taking him down to the floor again as Billy thought he had finally pulled away. You writhed forward and grabbed at Billy who looked at you in surprise. He let you hold onto his arms without fighting back. “Billy it’s ok!” You insisted. His face slid back to his human form and he frowned at you, still fighting but seeming to believe you as he fought less and less. Max saw her chance, hurried forward with the needle and hit home. Billy yelped as the plunger of the needle was pushed and Max backed away. You pulled it out, yelling for El and Mike to bring the chains. You and Steve wrapped Billy in them and the group helped heave him down to the basement.“Will he be ok?” Max asked.“Sure. Joyce and Jim are on the way. That stuff will make him a little loopy but I think he’ll be fine.” You assure her. She and the younger few left to go and look out for Joyce and Jim while Steve sat on the basement steps, to make sure Billy didn’t escape. You sat on the sofa with Billy. He was sniffling.“I didn’t even see him. The guy. Just bit me and left me all bloody.” Billy mumbled. You weren’t sure what to say. You hadn’t ever been faced with the prospect of comforting someone after a vampire attack before. Unsure what else to do you took his hand and let him clutch it tightly. His eyes told you he wouldn’t fight. Even if Steve thought he was trying to trick everyone into thinking he was docile. It wasn’t long until the cavalry arrived and Joyce and Jim joined you.“This is going to hurt. But you’ll be almost completely normal.” Jim said.“Almost. That’s not very encouraging.” Steve said from behind the basement sofa.“He’ll have some slight aversions to the sun. You’ll be stronger, able to run faster… this was some sort of experiment to see if they could make some kind of super strong soldier.” Joyce explained.“It doesn’t sound like it’ll cure anything. Are you sure it works?” You asked her. Joyce nodded.“This. How he is now. It’s stage one of four. The injection will freeze him at stage one and take the edge off the symptoms. Believe me. You don’t want to see stage four.” Joyce gave you a firm look and you nodded, not wanting to know anymore. Billy didn’t fight or complain as Jim carefully injected Billy with the serum and you turned away. You could feel him clutching your hand harder and harder until you winced. Once it was done Joyce pried your hand from his and led you away. Jim and Steve unbound Billy and left him alone in the basement. There was silence for a long time. No one said anything as the group gathered in your living room sitting down and hoping things would work out alright. But once the screaming started everyone was up on their feet again. Max, who had sat next to you, clung to you, her face buried in your side and each scream Billy let out, her body tensed.“I’m finding that fucking scientist that let that monster out of the lab. I’m not backing down Joyce. I know he threatened…” Jim said, breaking the silence of the room. Joyce agreed with him. You all spent the night up in the living room, holding onto Max who clutched at you as if she couldn’t stay seated without your support. After a few hours Billy went quiet. Then when you listened carefully you could hear quiet sobs. Once dawn came Jim cracked open the basement door. You followed him down. When Steve tried to stop Max she batted him away, insisting on going with you.“Billy?” You said in a whisper. He was laying on the floor, breathing softly. Joyce hurried to check on him.“He’s sleeping. After what he went through it’s no surprise. We should get him to the hospital.”“We’ll go.” Max answered and looked at you. You answered with a firm nod as you stared down at a peaceful Billy in the ruins of your basement den.Billy tags:@lisainhell@spiderwebs-blog@gryffindorqueensworld@rockyrascal@twerp8999@theletterhart@boardstomymood@big-galaxy-chaos@greekktragedyy@ietss@alexxavicry@daughterofthenight117@sarcasm-n-insomnia@multi-fandom5@skylermoyer@justice-for-the-kaldorei@favmeyou@kaylantus@supernatural-wolfie@yougottalovefandoms@alwaysadreamingoptimist@love1deandra@archaeologydigit@im-eating-rn@bucketbunny@littlefreakingfangirl@hardladyheart@gillybear17@lchufflepuffcorn -- source link
