thequeensenglish:Tintern Abbey in Monmouthshire, on the Welsh bank of the River Wye.The Abbey fell into ruin after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century- but Tintern’s origins hark back to the 12th century when it became home to the first community of Cistercian monks in Wales.Its remains have been celebrated in poetry and painting by a trio of poets – William Wordsworth, Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Allen Ginsberg – and has been painted by eminent landscape artist JMW Turner.Tintern is visited by over 70.000 people every year.Tim Dennis -- source link
