wafflepatterns: Meet new sewing pattern Classic style pullover anorak I’m excited to introduce a new item from Waffle Patterns! Meet my new sewing pattern, Pullover . This is a classic style anorak with many functional details, like a kangaroo pocket with a hidden zipper, a zipper guard or hem string. I am personally obsessed with utility apparels like men’s workwear or sport/outdoor brands and I’m making or sketching such items a lot recently. This pattern was made with those researches. The pattern is designed as a regular fitting with zipper opening. So depending on your fabric it will turn various styles, like a real outdoor/sport jacket with waterproof fabric or a casual top with coloured denim. There are 2 options for the collar design. A hood and a high neck collar with string. You can make without string, but it is functional and also works as nice design accents making your garment look professional. It is very fun to play with the colour/texture combination of small parts like eyelets or cord ends. I used faux leather tape to strengthen the eyelet place, you can see in the sample photos. The front pockets are 2 types. One is a kangaroo pocket which is very classic anorak style. This has a gusset at the bottom and a hidden zipper opening. The 2nd option is welt pockets on both sides. There is a sleeve pocket on the left sleeve, but also you can make with or without it. The pattern is drafted for woven fabrics and suitable for light-medium weight shirt/jacket fabrics, like cotton twill, light denim, fleece, canvas or gabardine. Some of my testers made with water-repellent fabrics and I think it is a great idea! Recently I see many outdoor/functional fabrics in my local fabric stores, too. So the choice like Softshell or coated nylon for raincoat will be nice options. Although the pattern is for woven, I tried to make one with stretch woven fabric. The salmon pink sample was made with stretch gabardine. It has very low tension (5-7%). I had not to alter the pattern at all. So, I think stretch woven will be an option. But I recommend choosing low tension one and depending on your fabric adjust the size by making a muslin. The plaid pattern sample in the photo is made with light-mid weight cotton twill. It is very easy to handle (except plaid matching work). I love that it’s suitable for casual wear. The pattern is regular fitting. If you use very thick or dense fabrics like very thick fleece, fur backed or coated fabrics, I recommend to use another lighter fabric for the facing and pocket bags. There are a zipper guard and a zipper cover on the front zipper opening. You can make with or without them. *********************The sewing pattern includes the 14 pages instruction and all the sewing process are described with detailed illustrations.
