polandgallery: I took this picture in August 2021 in Lubny, Ukraine when I was on my way from Kyiv to Poltava. It’s a monument which has the following text on it; “My people exist! My people will always be here! No one will abolish my people!”. These are the words of Vasyl Symonenko, who is considered one of the most important figures in Ukrainian literature. In 1963, he was badly beaten by the Soviet Police for promoting Ukrainian identity and writing in Ukrainian. He never recovered and died soon in the local hospital. He was 28.This is just one of the thousands of events showing Russian expansionist attitude toward Ukraine, its people, and their national identity. When the first Ukrainian-Soviet War took place, NATO didn’t exist. When Russia first invaded Ukraine, the US didn’t exist. Let’s not be fooled by the Russian propaganda trying the justify their expansionist and irridentist goals.Слава Україні! -- source link
