Time to reveal the latest papercraft exclusively featured in the @illumicrate mug series! It’s got snakes, it’s got fae, it’s got cheeks! A sneaky, schemey papercraft inspired by the Hewn City scene from #ACOMAF. When Daphne (@illumicrate) approached me with the request for a Hewn City inspired mug, she and I both agreed that the ‘throne scene’ was a bit overdone. (and honestly, I don’t think I’d be able to keep my beverage down drinking from a mug like that. I’d snort-choke every time.) But what else was our power couple doing at the Hewn City OTHER than enjoying a complimentary chair massage? Why, the chin hold of course! I had the opportunity to use an ebony tinted vellum I received in a sample pack for Feyre’s dress. So it’s as close to sheer whisps that you can get in paper form.I think a lot of people were thrown off by the snake motif - some even mistaking the scene for Queen of Nothing. (Book snake on the brain!) Truthfully, I finished this papercraft before the release of QoN. The carved serpents are described in the book as the motifs in and around the throne room, and I thought it made a great embellishment for the scene. ✨ To replicate the carved stone texture, I opted for chiselled lines in lieu of scales and sacrificed one of my glitter purple gel pens in the process (it fought the good fight ️). The multitude of snake eyes in the background represented the mass of courtisans, watching on as Feyre and Rhys preen at each other as a distraction.Really fun piece! Hope everyone liked the mug, even if it’s cheeky! -- source link
