iinchicore:okay, so this is weirdly specific and might only matter to me, but i felt like making a post about it anyway. at the very least it’ll function as a reminder of a wonderful day spent with a dear friend exploring museums in berlin. oblivious, we entered the bode museum and marveled at the honestly huge collection of paintings, statues and beautifully curated exhibition rooms, when suddenly i walked into this. the barberini faun. this is not the original (which should be in a museum in munich?), but as far as i understood it a clay figure that was created for restoration purposes. still, i stopped in my tracks. why? because i mentioned this very statue in one of my fics - mors nigra How enviable, Lorenz thought miserably behind bespectacled eyes that gave nothing away, taking in the healthy tan, soft muscles and youthful arrogance dripping off of Richard’s chin. There seemed nothing amiss with his physique, on the contrary, he looked like the type of man a Greek or Roman artist would have modelled their marble statues after. Much like the Barberini Faun he had seen many years ago, back during his studies in Munich, all too blasé and aware of his own male beauty; taken for granted. i know, this seems a bit silly, but i never expected to see this one in person - even if it’s a copy of sorts - and once i recognized it (which was pretty much immediately) i got so excited! i guess he and i have a special connection now :) the wonders of writing! -- source link
