We went back to the vet today. Unfortunately I don’t have good news. My gut feeling was right. It’s a tumour again. Given the fact they removed everything last time and it’s back already and growing, it must be quite aggressive. There is the option to remove it again but the chances it’ll come back are high. I’m glad to have a very realistic vet who is on the same page as I am, which is not doing another surgery. Instead I will be providing palliative care by keeping it clean and continuing the painkillers and anti inflammatory medication until I feel like it’s time to let him go. We have no idea how long he has left but I hope I won’t have to make the trip back to the vet too soon. For now he is still acting like himself so it doesn’t seem to bother him much yet. I’m prepared to let him go as soon as this changes, though. As Shakespeare once wrote: “Better three hours too soon than a minute too late”. I’d like to be able to say goodbye to him when he’s still his wriggly, hyperactive little self. -- source link
