XD I wanted to give some context to this because wow!! This is a history of Taiwan!! (going from left to right):The first two in the first row are Taiwan in indigenous dress! I can’t tell the exact tribe of the first one but the second one seems to be based off the Rukai tribe! This represents Taiwan’s prehistory and also the Dutch/Spanish colonization. At the time, indigenous peoples were the main population of Taiwan. The third picture of the first row is Taiwan in Ming Dynasty clothes. This represents Taiwan as the Kingdom of Tungning, when the Ming dynasty remnants came to Taiwan and drove away the Dutch. This is also when Taiwan became more populated by Han Chinese people. The first picture of the middle row is Taiwan under Qing rule from 1683 to 1895. You can see Taiwan wearing Qing dynasty clothes. The second picture of the middle row is Taiwan under Japanese colonization. Here you can see her wearing what was typical of Japanese school uniforms before the 1930s. The third picture of the middle row depicts Taiwan under martial law. You can see that she is cut off because it was a very isolated period of political oppression and mass surveillance and also how Taiwan was driven out of the UN in 1971. And finally, in the last row, it is Taiwan as we know it - a democratized Taiwan where social movements (often facilitated by digital technology and social media!) are thriving. WOWThanks! -- source link
