junkart4sale: vulpineninja: “Hey, s/he (your OC) looks like [a character from an existing series]!!” How many of us get annoyed by this? In today’s world art is almost undeniably a replication of a pre-existing work. In order for artists to find their own voice they need encouragement so they can find their originality through their own path. Once it is stated that a work “looks like” or is “representative” of a pre-existing work, discouragement sets in and the artist can lose the necessary motivation to find their own true original voice. This is a very well done breakdown of that process. Please share so that we can learn, and through learning help people help others through art. Thank you! -- source link
