Oh worm? Transcript under cut Keep reading I like the implication that Discworld fans are shadow people who will come out from behind the very fabric of reality to swarm you if you summon us by invoking any name connected to Terry Pratchett. Yeah but we are tho It’s pretty accurate. (Also Discworld is fun!) no cap. hey i have some omnian pamphlets here in my bag, too– literally got Small Gods in my amazon cart atm I really do have the reading order flowchart if anyone needs it i actually do need it i want to start Lolol absolutely So, you want to start reading Discworld, but have no idea where to start? Pre TV show, the Good Omens book fandom on Tumblr had the exact opposite of this dynamic. We would crawl out from under the floorboards to grab at the ankles of Discworld fans and go “BUT HAVE YOU TRIED GOOD OMENS?” Discworld is funny and smart and genre savvy. It is also some of the most deeply thoughtful writing I’ve ever read. Discworld came into my life at a time when I desperately needed it. It later gave me one of the Five Books That Changed My Life. It has more recently shown itself to be the type of series that grows with you; rereading the novels twenty years later shows they’re still good novels but they hit differently and you relate to different characters. I started with Guards! Guards!, which I giggled at because it’s a deconstruction of the Hero’s Journey, and then I got to Men At Arms (the next Watch book), and I was in the fandom now. -- source link
