baruchobramowitz:Members of various parties block the entrance to the city hall in Dortmund, Germany as neo-Nazi rioters attempt to storm the building during a post-election party.Goaded on by newly elected city council member Siegfried “SS Siggi” Borchardt, a group of about 20-30 neo-Nazis affiliated with the national-socialist party Die Rechte gathered outside city hall. Chanting “Germany for Germans! Foreigners out!” and singing “Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,” they demanded to be let into the party. Many of them wore shirts protesting the ban on National Resistance Dortmund, a local neo-Nazi “club.”Members of the Left, Pirate, and Green parties formed a human chain to prevent the Nazis from entering the building. They held flags that said, “Nazis? No thanks” and “Dortmund: Nazi-Free,” blew whistles to drown out the Nazis’ chanting, and chanted “Nazis out!” themselves. The neo-Nazis responded by throwing bottles, using pepper spray, and trying to force their way into the city hall.Ten people were injured, including the lead candidate of the Pirate Party who was hit in the head by a bottle. Police have launched investigations into 27 neo-Nazis and six leftists, although it is unclear if anyone was actually arrested at the riot itself.sources: x x x x x -- source link
