echochamber: You don’t know what it’s like Not to know who you are To have lived in the shadows And travel this far I’ve seen flashes of fire Heard the echos of screams But I still have this faith In the truth of my dreams In my dreams It’s all real And my heart has so much to reveal And my dreams Seem to say “Don’t be afraid to go on Don’t give up hope Come what may” I know it all will come back One day KYLA STONE as ANYA in Anastasia (Second National Tour) [I.D.: A set of 2 images of Anya from the musical Anastasia. Anya is a Black woman in her 20s with medium tan skin and long black hair. She’s wearing Anya’s signature red dress, a tiara, a pair of white gloves, and a pair of earrings. She stands with her arms crossed and looks at the viewer, slightly smirking. End I.D.]I first found out about Anastasia musical in the late 2017 when it was already running on Broadway for several months. Before that I haven’t heard of it and never even watched the animated movie. I listened to the OBCR first, of course, and then started slowly falling in love with other details of the show, like costumes, set design, the overall atmosphere and, ngl, no matter how cheesy it sounds — the story compelled me too. It sparked my interest in that era and the early Soviet history. It has also given me a lot of positive emotions because irl I haven’t had much positive things going on for me at that time (a falling out with a friend, didn’t get into the master’s program I wanted, financial troubles, etc.). Royal Misfits vlogs really comforted me at that time.Time passed, I discovered other interesting theater productions I liked. I’ve missed the closing of the Broadway show in 2019, the first national tour, multiple international tours, a serious controversy concerning show’s management on Broadway and AEA (which I think, we shouldn’t ignore and shouldn’t forget, especially in the light of recent events in the theater world). This show will always have a soft spot in my heart as one of the first musicals I’ve ever liked. I’m happy I stumbled on the news of the 2nd national tour and that video of Kyla singing Journey To The Past, it brought back some happy memories about theater and why I loved it. -- source link
