geimei:Today in Miyagawachi: Misedashi of Maiko Toshinana and Toshinami from the Komaya Okiya!Double-Misedashi are pretty rare and always a big event! They really show off the wealth and status off an okiya. And the kimono-ensembles the two wore are just absolutely gorgeous, Komaya really has a great kimono-collection!While most Maiko from Komaya debuted under the okaasan Toshiyū or under retired Geiko Toshihana (retired in 2015), Toshinana and Toshinami debuted under famous Geiko Toshikana and are her first imouto. Taking up two imouto at the same time isn’t an easy feat, but Toshikana is so successful that she can do it.The Komaya Okiya likes having girls debut in “pairs”: The two Maiko will have similar sounding names, like Toshimana and Toshikana, Toshimomo and Toshitomo and now Toshinana and Toshinami, and will debut closely together or on the same day. Toshinana is the girl on the left and Toshinami the girl on the left in the pictures above, by the way.Toshinana and Toshinami have been Shikomi for over a year, so they should be very well prepared. Certain okiya like to keep their girls as Shikomi for a little longer, as they are of the opinion that this prepares them better for the job and will decrease the chance of them retiring early due to feeling overwhelmed. Both girl are beautiful, Toshinana looks younger due to her rounder face than Toshinami, I think. I’m happy that the Toshi-line has new members! I wish them all the best for their careers!Source 1: しあんくれーる on TwitterSource 2: マリー on InstagramSource 3: Komaya Hanare on Facebook -- source link
