From the beginning, both had a deep passion for the other. “It is my dream to one day marry Alix H. I have loved her for a long time” Nicholas wrote. The two were married in 1894. Alexandra wrote in 1915: “God bless and protect you I kiss every dear spot over and over again and hold you tight in my arms”, and Nicholas wrote back “Every time that I see the envelope with your firm writing, my heart leaps several times, and I shut myself up and read, or more correctly absorb the letter.” With World War I and the cost of defending the territory, the government collapsed, bringing Revolution. The royal family ended to a cellar in Ekaterinburg, where Nicholas and Alexandra died side by side along with their children in July 1918. -- source link
