Aesthetic Series: Ilsa MacGyver(4 canon characters have different birth years, Jack and Russ are now born in 1969, James MacGyver in 1964 (Tate Donovan was born in 1963 so I’m matching him close to his real age) and Ellen MacGyver in 1965 (Ilsa was born in 1984, so I had to play around with her and Mac parents’ birth years).(And since we don’t know much about the character background except some passage here and there, I’m making my own canon about it.)Ilsa MacGyver was born to James and Ellen MacGyver not so long after their wedding. In the beginning James was a loving father and always found a moment to be with Ilsa showing her what he knew or just having father daughter time. Over time Ilsa who was smart soon noticed that her father spent a lot of time away from their family and even the birth of Angus didn’t change much in James’s habitude of always working, he loved his family everybody knew it, but the work took up all his time. Ilsa then began to slowly move away from him and get closer to her mother and grandfather. When Ellen died the rift between them deepened even more, he was there physically when the moment demanded it, but emotionally it was something else. When she was 16, the small relationship she had with him crumbled until it became non-existent when James, having decided to devote himself body and soul to his job, left his children at his father house. As soon as he left them in Mission City promising them to come back, Ilsa didn’t believe him, deciding right there to make him a taboo subject for her, as soon as Mac or Harry was talking about him she left the room until the conversation was over. After a time, she ended up asking her grandfather not to try to lie to her that she had a right to the truth and that she knew her father was not coming back. She then swore never to abandon her little brother that she would always be there for him, even if it means to drop her dream of studying in Europe. Mac not wanting his big sister to give up everything she had studied hard for, asked her to leave him with Harry that he would not be alone, Bozer was there for him and he knew she would always come back to see him when she could. Ilsa therefore accepted at the age of 17 the offer to study at Oxford in Biochemistry (molecular and cellular) as well as in Engineering Science. For the next four years, she will balance her time between her life as a student at Oxford and her role as a big sister, travelling whenever she can to see her brother. Wanting to get closer to Mac, she will decide to continue her studies and obtain her master’s degrees at MIT, her presence there will push Mac to also go and study, when Ilsa will graduate.  As soon as she left school, she will be offered a place in an ultra-secret agency DXS, and will agree to go work for them not knowing that the position came from her father. Upon her arrival, she will be teamed with Raymond Adams nicknamed Ray who will be the one to show her how to survive on a mission, but also showed her how to handle weapons. He will become her friend and mentor, working together 4 years before they decide to send her on an undercover mission alone for 2 years. During this mission she will meet Russ Taylor who was on the same mission as her with his private organization since they were hired to help the DXS mission. During those two years, they will start a romantic relationship that will end when she will go back to the United States, promising to meet again one day and if the feelings are still there, they will start their story again. Upon her return in the country, the DXS will transfer her to Mac and Jack team, where the latter from the beginning will begin to flirt with her, at first for fun seeing that she seemed to someone he could have fun with, but also to annoy Mac who didn’t seem keen on this relationship at first. Then after a year of flirting, he will finally ask her seriously out on a date, he wanted her to give him a chance, Ilsa knowing that no matter how their date will end they would still be friends agreed. This first date was followed by a next one, then another, and another before they formalized their relationship and announced it to Mac and Nikki. After two years of relationship and shortly before the events of the first episode Jack will propose to Ilsa, which she will accept instantly. They will break the news of their engagement together to Mac, Nikki and Ray, the latter will take Jack aside to tell him that he had to take care of her or he would track him down and make him pay, Jack will only nodded knowing he would have done the same thing in his place.
