busybby: hello!! it’s been a while since i’ve made a post like this, and i hope too many people haven’t done this one exactly, but whatever. getting started on essays is always daunting so if you use this as a way to guide yourself and get everything together it might be useful! pre-writing phase: sticky notes colored pens highlighters/markers/colored pencils lots of paper actual essay writing phase: computer google docs snacks and water. always. a good playlist look hereoptional: a quiet place a comfy spot w good lighting sit up, but make sure you’re comfortable room for all your physical papers/readings/books/etc. comfy clothes a neat writing space (choose ur fave) zenpen - very simple and easy to use, website calmly writer - very similar to zenpen, website quiet writer - everything you write is immediately saved, you can change the background color too - chrome extension qwertzen - simple with character count, average reading time, and customization - chrome extension raven - specifically for novelists, but works well for whatever you want. minimalistic with nice organization - desktop download writed - very simple and cute - mac app writers block/cold turkey writer - very very very minimalistic and easy to use, you literally cannot exit until you’ve reached your goal if you choose to set one (can be set by time or word count) - app for windows and mac more sticky notes/paper, preferably a different color (or use the commenting feature w/ whatever writing program you’re using, but i find physical sticky notes more appealing bc i’m more likely to remember to do whatever it is if it write it down) > 45 minutes at least one break (i.e. walking, running, yoga, tidying, etc.) post writing phase (hopefully the day after): < 30 mins a fun snack/drink, you deserve it. a printer, not necessary but they’re helpful when re-reading because you can make physical notes/marks on the sheet an editing site (i recommend using at least one) grammarly - for mostly grammar mistakes, obviously paper rater - proof reading for grammar and spelling, also gives feed back on sentence structure, vocab level, and more. **slick write - gives feedback on sentence structure, formatting, word variety and more - website but there’s also a downloadable option **hemingway editor - more stylistic, sentence structure, word choice advice (also a desktop app available) a quiet place to read ur essay aloud (this helps w/ fluidity, organization and grammar) image credit - hope this is helpful!! xox annie -- source link
