BOOK REVIEW Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi RATING 4/5 *Spoilers Ahead* Literally the only thing stopping me from giving this book a 5 was how inta-lovey it was. I really like Adam and I felt that Juliette really needed a friend! In her situation of never being really touched and all the sudden having another human that can hold her, in real life I think someone would want to be friends. I wouldn’t necessarily be like Juliette who was very all the sudden I’m in love and I just started talking to you! However the shower scene where Adam grabs her had me squealing. I did really like how the world was revealed to the reader, and how fast everything had gone to dystopia. Usually in these dystopian YA novels it has taken literally centuries to end up where the world is or it’s an end of the world novel like the 5th wave. There is no in between. So having that perspective of Juliette literally knowing the world as we do today and in a few short years having society fall apart, was really eye-opening. I really want to pick up the sequel, because Tahereh is and amazing writer, and I like the style of Juliette’s voice. Can we talk about Warner though?! I hate him and wish he would die! Everything he says makes me want to throw up! Now that we know he can touch Juliette! EW! And this Omega point thing, totally reminds me of district 13. I’m curious to see what other abilities people have there. Maybe they are all like x-men mutants or something. Juliette’s power is exactly the same as Rogue’s! And Adams is the same as that boy in X-III who they get the mutant cure from. I could really tell there was a lot of x-men and hunger games influence in the novel. I hope the next one really separates itself and finds a distinct voice. -- source link
