Recently I was reading some ghost-related folklore and learned about Gabriel Ratchets, which surprisingly is neither a character in a Dickens novel nor your 23-year-old cousin who wants to be a rap star. They are the spectral hounds said to run with Herne the Hunter, a ghostly being that roams at night in some parts of the UK. Their ears are red to symbolize death.
