Hiraeth Creature #1193 - Ani-Abor“In an unwitnessed drama far across the sea, sailors with little to their name trekked across a foreign land, following after secrets they could never fully parse. All the crew had was their stalwart captain, her words of courage and the gleam of her spear giving them hope. Her bravery seemed like a blazing beacon, but the flame would wane the further they delved. Within a grand chamber at the foot of a pale tree, feathers whispered secrets as they fluttered in an ailing breeze. These murmurs changed the captain: the charismatic friend who sang shanties to keep up morale now spoke in nonsensical invocations. She gained knowledge of every secret nook and passageway, but her kindness was replaced with a frightening zeal. Her eyes cut like steel at those who would question her, and these gazes split the crew. Some still believed in their captain and pledged to follow her to the end, while others returned to the catacombs, either feebly attempting to build a new vessel, or resigning themselves to life in the shadows, never seeing Hiraeth again. The captain’s inherited instincts proved to be true, and her loyal crew found their way out through what seemed like a great empty well. They all stopped to indulge in the clean wind gliding over them, and had hardly noticed the innumerable creatures they were surrounded by. They were harmless, but towered over them in every direction. A great, breathing, whispering forest of beasts who swayed in the wind or lurched about aimlessly was their next maze to conquer. Come nightfall, when the stars seemed blinding and the overwhelming cold was welcomed, all would be revealed as what looked like a second Moon shone over the horizon. All the beasts turned towards it and bowed. Never had their quest been clearer.” -- source link
