Hiraeth Creature #1190 - Yaz-Thuru“It can be a daunting task for any travellers coming to Hiraeth to judge what has the ability to get up and move around and what doesn’t. This ever-present game is raised to incredible difficulty when exploring Hiraeth’s tropics, famed for their abundance of living flora. Many would see a Yaza fruit, big and heavy enough to weigh down a small boat, and see a feast to crack open, but locals know the importance of spinning the fruit around to make sure it doesn’t have glimmering eyes, or else incur the wrath of a Yaz-Thuru.Yaz-Thuru are forest sprites who have an affinity for the armoured Yaza fruit, taking on a similar form to defend themselves as well as blend into the environment. Wild beasts strong enough to break the fruit’s scaly shell seem to have an instinctual sense of which ones are sprites in disguise. The Yaza tree also shares the fruit’s distinct carapace, so seeing one sitting plainly on the ground so far from their mother is often a sign that they’re a sprite on patrol.Yaz-Thuru formed a bond with the jungle folk during the Giant’s March, as the rampaging behemoths tore many trees asunder. Thankful to the tribes who defended their homeland, Yaz-Thuru are said to bring fertility to village crops, as well as leave trails of glowing dust at night to help guide travellers to sanctuaries. If someone were to attempt to crack a Yaz-Thuru open, by mistake or otherwise, the annoyed sprite is said to disappear in a flash of light and will play pranks on their assailer for the rest of their time in the jungle unless they spend a whole day and night apologizing at the foot of a Yaza tree.” -- source link
